Many thanks to everyone who has replied. I think I'm persuaded by the advantages of an EZ-Link card rather than a Tourist Pass, if only because of the hassle of having to go to a specific, non-handy, MRT station three times (!) during the holiday in order to buy and replace the Tourist Pass.
SINGAPORE, 6 February 2023 – EZ-Link Pte Ltd, pioneer of contactless payments in Singapore, takes another step towards making daily commutes and financial management more convenient with the launch of the Family Account feature. The Family Account introduces group card management for both standard SimplyGo EZ-Link cards as well as SimplyGo
But I have an EZ link card and use it regularly. 1. The EZ link card is easy to use because you can top up the value at all MRT stations and at 7-Eleven convenient stores. 2. The remainder of the value on the EZ Link card is fully refundable. 3. You can use the EZ link card to pay for your MRT and bus trips. 4. If you mean the tourist pass - it has a maximum 3 days validity for unlimited use at the high rate they charge, after which it will function as an EZlink card that you can top up. but you still have to reclaim the deposit after the validity expires (and its 10SGD per card) for most common comparisons of costs and that cancels the card. 6lGRWI.
